Good to know

Why live sport needs a better connection than films

A film can buffer a few minutes ahead, so small dips in your Wi-Fi go unnoticed. Live sport can't: it's streamed as it happens, so any wobble shows up straight away. Fast movement also needs more data than a drama.

That's why we always suggest a cable or 5 GHz Wi-Fi for the main TV, and why switching from 4K to HD is the quickest fix when a match stutters.

Match day

The match-day checklist

  1. Earlier in the day

Find the channel and add it to favourites. Tell us now if you can't find it.

  2. An hour before

Restart the device and pause big downloads, game updates and cloud backups.

  3. Kick-off

Tune in ten minutes early. If it stutters, switch to the HD version straight away.

Want to be sure about a specific match or event?

Sport questions

Sports channels FAQ

Can you guarantee a particular match?

No one honest can guarantee every event, because broadcast and licensing arrangements change. Ask us about the event you care about and we'll give you the best answer we can.

Why is the live stream a little behind my friend's?

Every TV platform has a delay, and internet streams are usually a few seconds behind aerial or satellite. Mute the group chat if you hate spoilers.

Which device is best for sport?

Something wired: an Android TV box or a Fire TV / Apple TV with an Ethernet adapter. Compare devices

Ready before the next big game?

Plans work out from £5.42 a month on the 12-month option. Not sure which length suits you? Ask us. We'd rather you buy the right one.
